Selected by the Omniversal guardian Roma to champion the cause of life, the X-Men found themselves pitted against the karmic gamesman called the Adversary! Considering the X-Men little more than playthings, the Adversary toyed with his foes, exiling Storm and Forge to a mystic nether realm! Realizing that nothing less could defeat the Adversary, Forge used the X-Men's own life forced to banish their foe, leaving the mutant team lifeless! However, in gratitude for their sacrifice, Roma resurrected the X-Men, allowing them to continue their battle against evil!
