When the X-Men were believed to have been killed by the alien race known as the Brood, Chalres Xavier assembled a new band of mutant pupils: Karma, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Sunspot and Cannonball! Called the New Mutants, they were a team of uncertain, untried heroes, faced with the pressure of living up tp the exploits of their predecessors! When the X-Men returned from space alive and well, the New Mutants stayed on as Xavier's backup team!
